Laurie Selik began collecting wedding vows in 1988 and has since advised numerous brides and grooms on writing their original wedding vows. Her wedding to her husband, Eric Roth, naturally included original vows within the context of a Reconstructionist Jewish ceremony on Venice Beach surrounded by 65 barefoot guests.

Laurie completed her Masters degree in the University of Southern California's Master in Professional Writing program in 1996 and her articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Village View, The Detroit Jewish News and on public radio's Marketplace.

In 1999 Laurie and her husband completed a six-month journey around the world observing other cultures - especially their wedding rituals. She continues to live in Venice Beach, CA which provides geographical access to L.A.'s quirky wedding rituals, Zen rabbis, the participants, and their agents.
